ARNOLD, Constable Henry Warman (1852-1906)

Born at Geelong, Victoria

Son of Henry and Carol Arnold.

Constable Henry (Harry) Warman joined the police force in 1874 and his first posting was at Myrtleford, followed by Warrandyte. He was transferred to Yarra Flats in 1886.

Harry married Sarah Tatnall in 1874 and by the time they came to Yarra Flats they had eight children. Two more were born at Yarra Flats (which was becoming known as Yarra Glen), Daphne in 1888 and Gladys in 1893.Tragedy also struck in 1889 when two daughters died of diphtheria: Grace aged nine and Caroline only four years old. They are both buried at the Yarra Glen cemetery.

In 1894 Arnold was promoted to Senior Constable and posted to Steiglitz and later to Clunes. He died in November 1906. His wife predeceased him in 1900 and they are both buried at Clunes.
