SCOTT, Jonathon (1845-1913)

The youngest son of Joseph and Jane Scott of Steels Creek, Jonathon was born in Lamplugh and travelled to Australia in 1853 with his parents. He selected 80 acres at Steels Creek in company with two of his brothers. After his marriage to Emily Sullivan (née Rourke) in 1882 Jonathon purchased 134 acres, later increasing his holding to one block of 564 acres. He specialised in breeding Hereford cattle. Emily had five children from a previous marriage and four with Jonathon. Jonathon was a councillor with the Shire of Eltham. Emily died in 1898 after about ten years of poor health.
