HUBBARD, Benjamin John (1893-1981)
Born 13 September 1893 at Steels Creek He was the sixth of fifteen children of William Hubbard and Mary Bell Reilly.
Ben and his younger brother Reg enlisted together in January 1915 and sailed with the 13th Light Horse Brigade to Cairo in May 1915. However Ben was returned to Melbourne with ill-health in August 1915 and was discharged in May 1916.
In 1917 Ben married Lilian Farnsworth, daughter of Charles Farnsworth who was the station master at Yarra Glen. Benjamin died 4 July 1981 and Lilian on 4 June 1987. Both are buried at Yarra Glen.
