POLICE
In 1886 the Yarra Flats district was covered by three mounted constables from Lilydale, Queenstown and Healesville and a foot police officer, Constable Bryan, who was permanently stationed there.
Large navvy camps in the area for men employed in building the aqueduct and the railway resulted in demand for a permanent police station which was gazetted in December 1886. Mounted Constable Henry Warman was appointed and a lock-up was installed.
For many years a Police Court was conducted at Yarra Glen, presided over by a travelling magistrate and/or local Justices of the Peace.
