LACON, Vincent (1881-1975)
Born in Birmingham, England in 1881. Son of Joseph Lacon.
He was living in Yarra Glen, working as a nurseryman, when he enlisted on 26 June 1915. His wife and children were living in Armstrong Grove. Two of the children attended the Yarra Glen State School.
Vincent left Melbourne with the 14th Battalion 7th Reinforcement on the Persia on 10 August 1915. His youngest daughter was born in December that year. Soon after arriving in the Middle East he was posted to Gallipoli. Vincent returned to Australia in March 1919. He died aged 93.
